Organizer seeks council support for Cowboy Mounted Shooting event; town attorney says event complies with regulations

Lisa Grimsley asked the council to support a Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association event planned for Aug. 20 and 21, 2016, at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds and asked the council to consider donating the Afton Civic Center or offering reduced rental for an auction to benefit the Horse Warrior Organization.

Grimsley described the equipment and safety measures for mounted shooting, stating that balloons are used as targets and that no projectiles are fired. Town Attorney Spencer Allred reviewed the request and advised the council that the event fits within state and town regulations.

Council members said they are supportive of the event and will consider the request for Civic Center assistance; no formal donation action or detailed rental reduction was recorded in the minutes.
