Afton council amends 2015–16 budget, approves liquor license, permits and event dates

The Afton Town Council on June 14 approved a fiscal-year amendment and several routine business items, including a new restaurant liquor license and an event permit.

Mayor Joel Neuenschwander presented Resolution 2016-04 amending the fiscal year 2015–2016 budget; Councilman Rick Merritt moved to approve the resolution and Councilman Bill Hoopes seconded. The minutes record the Mayor voted in favor and that the motion carried.

Town Clerk Lisa Hokanson advised the council that the Wyoming Liquor Division had approved a new restaurant liquor license application from Savor-Eclectic Eats LLC d.b.a. Savor-Eclectic Eats; the council approved the license following a motion by Councilman Hoopes and a second by Councilman Merritt. The council also approved a limited malt beverage permit submitted by Justie Brown and Mason Hillstead for an Afton Civic Center event on August 5, 2016, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Sandy Peavler, representing Colter's Lodge, requested the town approve local bar "all nighter" dates. The council approved the requested dates for 2016: July 23, October 8, November 25 and December 31.

The mayor presented the bills against the Town of Afton for the period ending May 31, 2016 and the council moved to approve them. The meeting minutes include an itemized list of expenditures and payroll for the period, including line items such as fireworks and payroll. The council also approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the May 10 regular meeting and business licenses and building permits issued in May.

The council went into executive session at 5:15 p.m. to discuss legal issues and reconvened at 5:30 p.m.; the minutes state legal issues were discussed and no action was taken. Town Administrator Hyun Kim reported the Afton Police Department will receive new town-issued side arms in the near future. The minutes record no votes against the motions listed and record motions as carried.
