Martin County approves full Rural ReadySites application seeking $1,013,940 for business-park infrastructure

The Martin County Board of Commissioners voted Oct. 10 to approve submission of the Rural ReadySites final application to the North Carolina Department of Commerce. The county seeks $1,013,940 in grant funds with a local match of $112,660 to extend gravity sewer and rehabilitate the elevated storage tank at the Martin County Regional Business Park.

County Manager David Bone reminded the board that a pre-application was submitted in April and that the full application seeks to make the industrial park more market-ready for existing and prospective tenants. The board approved the resolution authorizing the application and confirmed that the county would administer the grant in accordance with Department of Commerce rules and through the county finance office.

The resolution identifies the project scope, the requested grant amount, and the county’s intent to monitor the grant quarterly to ensure compliance. The action was taken by motion and approved unanimously.
