Arvon Township School Board hires business manager, names lead teacher and nominates two trustees

The Arvon Township School Board on Feb. 24 approved multiple personnel moves, acknowledged a resignation and nominated two trustee candidates during a special meeting held via Zoom.

President Mary Deline called the meeting to order at 6:26 p.m. The board adopted the meeting agenda on a motion moved and seconded by Natalie Wahmhoff and Linda Griffith, and approved the minutes of its Feb. 9 meeting with the same members making the motion and second.

In a personnel package the board voted to hire Andrea Olsen as the district’s new business manager and to add her to the district’s bank accounts for signature authority. The minutes record that the motion passed with the board saying “All in favor.” Andrea Olsen was listed in the meeting roll call as office manager.

The board also reassigned Christina Waara, listed in the roll call as a teacher, to assume the role of lead teacher. Separately, the minutes record that “Ms. Hem ii la” (as transcribed) will add five hours per week as long as needed; that item was recorded as approved “All in Favor.”

The board acknowledged receipt of an official letter of resignation from N. Soli; the minutes note that the person had earlier given a verbal resignation that the board previously accepted.

On trustee nominations, the board nominated Kristy Laramore and Kyle Wiseman to fill trustee positions. The nomination of Kristy Laramore is recorded as moved/seconded (MMS Griffith, Wahmhoff and Deline). Kyle Wiseman’s nomination is recorded as MMS Griffith and Deline, with Natalie Wahmhoff recorded as abstaining on that nomination. The minutes state the third applicant, Terry Lerma, was thanked for her interest and that her name will be kept on file. Linda Griffith will contact the two nominees to arrange swearing-in for office.

The board set its next meeting for March 9, 2021 (via Zoom) and adjourned at 6:43 p.m.

Actions recorded in the minutes included agenda adoption, approval of minutes, hiring and role assignments for district staff, acknowledgement of a resignation, and trustee nominations. Specific vote tallies beyond unanimous “All in favor” and the single noted abstention were not provided in the minutes.
