Fraser Board receives clean audit, fund balance reported at $14.1 million

FRASER, Mich. — The Fraser Board of Education on Oct. 13, 2025 received a year-end audit showing no material weaknesses or significant deficiencies and an unmodified opinion, the board recorded in its Audit Workshop minutes.

Joe Brandenburg of Buss & Company presented the audit for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. Brandenburg told the board the audit found no material weaknesses and no significant deficiencies and that the firm issued an unmodified opinion, which the minutes describe as the best outcome. He reported the district closed the fiscal year with $14.1 million in its fund balance, representing 20.8% of expenditures.

The findings were presented during an Audit Workshop held at Richards Middle School's Idea Lab. Board President Scott Wallace called the meeting to order at 6:06 p.m.; the pledge was waived until the regular meeting. The minutes list board members Scott Wallace (president), Robyn Norbeck (treasurer), Kathleen Moco (secretary), Abigail Wasil (trustee), Todd Burrows (trustee) and Rebecca Jensen (trustee) as present, along with Superintendent Carrie Wozniak and several district directors and staff.

After the audit presentation, Trustee Abigail Wasil moved to adjourn; Trustee Robyn Norbeck supported the motion. The minutes record the vote as "Ayes: All; Nays: None," and the meeting adjourned at 6:22 p.m.

The minutes state they were approved by the Fraser Board of Education at the Regular Meeting on Oct. 20, 2025 and are to be filed in the district's permanent minute book.
