At the Nov. 24 public comment period, resident Molly Magnotte praised the Disney vocal concert and called for the district to expand Advanced Placement courses at Fraser High School and to introduce grading in upper elementary to better prepare students for the transition to middle school.
Magnotte also said the crosswalk lights on Garfield are not working and asked whether they would be fixed. Jim Birko, Operations & Maintenance, responded that county road construction on Garfield is not yet complete and that reactivating the crosswalk lights is on the district's list of tasks to accomplish once work permits it.
Board members noted the comments were received; no board vote or formal directive on curriculum changes was recorded in the minutes. The concerns raised touch on academic course offerings and elementary grading practices, both of which would require staff study and board consideration before any policy change. The crosswalk lights issue appears to be contingent on county completion of roadway work.
