DOE extends funding for AMP car-share pilot at two Santa Fe County housing sites, county partners bridged gap

During public comment, Jennifer Zavon, program manager for Forth, updated the board on the Affordable Mobility Platform (AMP) car-share pilot operating at two Santa Fe County housing sites. Zavon said the project — funded by a U.S. Department of Energy grant — provides app-based electric vehicle sharing to reduce barriers to EV access at affordable housing locations.

Zavon reported pilot metrics: 12 distinct drivers have completed 66 trips totaling 1,156 hours booked and 7,261 electric miles driven, with an average utilization across both sites of about 1.7 hours booked per day. She said a required DOE continuation review paused automatic federal funding after June 30 of last year but that partners identified bridge funding to sustain operations; county sustainability funds covered part of the most recent period so the pilot did not need to close.

The DOE has now approved continuation into budget period 3 running July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027, Zavon said, and Forth will communicate next steps with the county and partners. She thanked Executive Director Latoya Ricketts, Deputy Director Joanna Vasquez and county sustainability staff for support in securing interim funds.

What’s next: Forth and county staff will coordinate notifications to residents at host sites and continue evaluating program performance and long-term funding options.
