Emergency management director seeks EMPG certification; county schedules recovery-plan presentation

Mark Harden, Henry County’s emergency management director, told the commission that a letter must be filed with the state emergency-management agency certifying subrecipient compliance with vetting requirements to secure Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) funds.

Harden presented the requirement during the June 25 meeting and said the county must complete the certification step to receive EMPG funding. Commissioners scheduled a July 7 meeting with Caseinger to present and review the Henry County Emergency Recovery Plan.

Why it matters: EMPG funds support local emergency-management operations and planning. The certification is a prerequisite for grant disbursal, and the scheduled July meeting will let the commission review the recovery plan before any formal acceptance or allocation of grant-funded work.

Next steps: staff will file the certification letter with the state agency, and the commission will receive a presentation of the Emergency Recovery Plan on July 7. No grant award was recorded during the June 25 meeting.
