Airport Director Don Rolllet briefed the Board on two airfield matters the Board will consider at its next formal meeting.
First, staff recommended approval of a lease with Van Horn Aviation Maintenance LLC for Hangar A2 at Hot Springs Memorial Field Airport (resolution R26116). Rolllet said the commercial hangar totals about 6,900 square feet with roughly three‑quarters of an acre of land and will house avionics work, small‑aircraft inspections and maintenance. He said the tenant expects a small staff (an owner and two or three employees) and would take possession if the Board approves the lease next week; the term described in the packet is five years with two optional five‑year renewals.
Second, Rolllet presented a bid award recommendation (R26117) for rehabilitation of secondary taxiways Echo and Mike. The Echo work is limited to surface recovery and crack sealing; Mike requires full milling to address significant drainage problems, replacement of inadequate drainage, and subsequent repaving. Rolllet said the contract award is contingent on grant approval (staff noted a referenced grant amount of about $955,000 in the packet materials).
Both items are scheduled for formal action at the July 7 meeting. No formal vote occurred at the agenda review; staff framed the taxiway contract as contingent on a grant and the hangar lease as a revenue‑generating tenancy that restores avionics services to the airfield.
