Town staff outlines multi-year approach to sewer rates; final proposal due next meeting

Justin told the board that Baker Tilly is continuing its review of the town’s sewer fund. He said the town implemented a 7.85% increase last fall and that Baker Tilly has asked for additional information. Justin recommended considering "a 2 to 3% increase every other year and have the ordinance build it so that it's worked in and we don't have to fall laps and behind again in future," describing a plan of "three terms of that" and conducting another rate study before any further increases.

Justin cautioned that the schedule could change if an unforeseen project requires an earlier or larger increase. He said he would bring more firm proposals to the next meeting. The board did not take a formal vote on rates at this session.
