Quorum Court approves multiple budget transfers and courthouse repairs; one ordinance fails

The Marion County Quorum Court approved a series of budget amendments and appropriations at its meeting, authorizing transfers for road restriping, court security, vehicle purchases and courthouse repairs while a separate ordinance to codify supplemental revenue obligations failed for lack of a second.

The court enacted Ordinance 2025-56 to transfer unappropriated funds from the additional motor fuel tax fund to pay for restriping county roads. Separately, the court appropriated $18,699.99 from the court security fund (3555) to the court security complex fund (3555-0120) after a member noted the county had received a check for that grant. Members also approved a transfer from the sales tax county road fund (1801) to the vehicles line (1801-0200-4005) for vehicle purchases.

An ordinance transferring money from a 3601HP grant to the county building improvements fund (for repairs to the clerk’s windows and installation of HVAC on the courthouse main floor and basement) was approved. Two administrative items brought on behalf of the clerk’s office — a jury per diem item and a $900 part-time election pay item — were also processed.

A proposed ordinance to codify the county’s use of supplemental revenue as a county general fund obligation was introduced but failed for lack of a second and did not proceed to a vote.
