Sarpy County approves budget adjustments to close FY2026; grants and transfers authorized

Sarpy County commissioners approved three near-term budget measures June 30 to close out fiscal year 2026: an increase in appropriations for two special-revenue funds, authority to transfer funds between general-fund departments, and authority to transfer federal-grant appropriations between departments.

CFO Daniel Tokus said the special-revenue funds received higher-than-anticipated revenues and that the resolution would allow the county to expend an additional $126,000 for their intended purposes. "The total amount being added to the fiscal year 26 budget per this resolution is $126,000," he said.

A second resolution authorized $574,000 in transfers between general-fund departmental budgets; Tokus said the general fund remains under budget and that the transfers amount to roughly 0.5% of the general fund. A third resolution allowed intra-fund transfers of $49,739 within the county's federal-grant fund.

All three resolutions were presented in public hearing format, drew no public comment, and were approved by motion and second. Commissioners said departmental representatives were available if needed and that these adjustments are standard closeout procedures.
