Ordinance to limit future water and sewer service fails for lack of second; mayor asks for redraft

Mayor Joel Neuenschwander presented Ordinance 641 for its third and final reading on Oct. 10. The proposed ordinance would have limited future water and sewer service to properties within the Town of Afton municipal limits and boundaries.

Council Member Rick Merritt moved to pass Ordinance 641 on third and final reading, but the motion received no second and therefore failed for lack of a second. Mayor Neuenschwander directed Town Attorney Dale Cottam to prepare a redraft of the ordinance to address the concerns raised by the Council; Cottam told the council a new ordinance would be available for review in the near future.
