Bario Fiesta seeks restaurant liquor, entertainment license and conditional-use bar-restaurant designation

City staff briefed the council on a three-part request from Bario Fiesta Mexican Grill at 514th Street: a restaurant retail liquor license, an entertainment license to permit live music, and a conditional-use approval to classify the business as a bar-restaurant under the new zoning rules.

Staff explained the new zoning ordinance caps occupancy at no more than 250 for this classification and said the conditional-use process allows the city to act if the establishment does not comply with the permit conditions. Staff described the proposal as evolving from the prior “gastro pub” use and noted that the liquor and entertainment licenses would allow the owner to offer both dining and live entertainment.

Council members confirmed this item had been briefed in committee and were reassured that the conditional-use designation gives the city authority to respond if the business violates conditions.

Next steps: the council will consider the item through the standard approval process, including any conditional-use review and required public notices.
