At its Jan. 12, 2016 meeting, the Afton Town Council approved multiple routine governance items including appointments to town boards, appointment of town employees to key positions, approval of bills, and plans to sell surplus equipment.
Mayor Joel Neuenschwander presented nominees for the Utility Board, Swift Creek Hydro Power Project, Airport Board, Public Health Board, Planning & Zoning Board, Heritage Committee, and Golf Board; Councilman Jason C. Inskeep moved to approve the boards as presented, Councilman Rick Merritt seconded, and the motion carried. The council also approved a consent agenda including minutes from Dec. 8, 2015 and business licenses/building permits for December 2015, and then approved the bills against the town for the period ending Dec. 31, 2015 after a reading of a detailed vendor list.
Following an executive session, the council approved appointments to town positions: Hyun James Kim as Town Administrator; Larry Lancaster and Joshua Peavler as department directors; Rod Jensen as municipal court judge; Lisa Hokanson as town clerk; and Heather Warren as town treasurer. Council published gross monthly salaries for chief administrative officials and full-time staff as required by Wyoming statute. The council also discussed selling surplus items (two police vehicles, a snowplow, desks) and agreed to place an ad to market them. Finally, the council scheduled a workshop for Feb. 1 to discuss upcoming projects and public-works standards.
These approvals were presented as routine governance items; individual motions were recorded as "motion carried" unless otherwise noted in the minutes. The council set the next regular meeting for Feb. 9, 2016 at 6:00 p.m.
