The Shelby City Council on Nov. 5 approved several project payments and personnel appointments, including a $118,262.51 pay application to TK Concrete and a $7,100 tiling bid for a new trail.
On a motion by Pat Honeywell, seconded by Karen Schlueter, Pay Application #3 for TK Concrete in the amount of $118,262.51 was approved by roll call (all ayes). Later the council approved a tiling bid from Goettsch Excavating for $7,100 to install tiling for a new trail; that motion (moved by Karen Schlueter, seconded by Pat Honeywell) passed 4-1, with Council member Todd Frank voting no and the other four voting yes (Hursey, Honeywell, Schlueter, True).
The council also approved Resolution 11-24, moved by Pat Honeywell and seconded by Karen Schlueter, to set a public hearing under Iowa Code 364.7 on Tuesday, Nov. 19, regarding the proposed sale of a 16.36-acre parcel designated as Parcel No. 832919000002; the resolution passed on a unanimous roll call.
Separately, the council accepted three applicants as volunteers for Shelby Fire & Rescue—Cole Pauley, Jacob Lund and Gabe Barron—on a motion by Pat Honeywell, seconded by Jackie Hursey (roll call: all ayes).
