Board adopts common‑use terminal fees at Stockton Metropolitan Airport after negotiations with Allegiant

San Joaquin County supervisors on June 30 approved a staff proposal to add common‑use terminal fees at Stockton Metropolitan Airport effective July 1, 2026, a change developed in negotiation with Allegiant Airlines.

Airport Director Richard Soal told the board the new common‑use fees — a bundled discounted rate for shared ticketing, hold room, baggage claim and daytime ramp use — are designed to allocate costs proportionally by airline activity while maintaining Stockton's competitive position: "Stockton Metropolitan Airport will continue if these fees are approved to offer the lowest airline use fees in the state," he said.

Board discussion noted the need to balance revenue and competitiveness; Soal said the fees were a negotiated compromise after airline concerns over prior fee increases. The board opened and closed the public hearing and approved the fee change.

The decision leaves landing and fuel flowage fees unchanged; ramp parking increases were removed from the recommendation after board feedback. The airport will continue to monitor airline activity and fee impacts and report back to the board as needed.
