Trustees authorize OFSDP application and dual-credit MOU with Southwest Texas College

Trustees unanimously authorized district administration to submit an Optional Flexible School Day Program (OFSDP) application to the Texas Education Agency on behalf of Blended Academy, administration said during the June 29 meeting.

Miss Laura Santate explained the OFSDP targets students who have dropped out, are at risk of dropping out, or are behind in coursework and described the required application elements including student schedules, staff plans and attendance accounting. The administration recommended the board authorize the board president and superintendent to sign the application; the board approved that recommendation unanimously.

On a related instructional item, Miss Jennifer Sutton presented a 2026'27 dual-credit partnership agreement and early-college memorandum of understanding with Southwest Texas College for the district's early-college high school and career-and-technology programs. The memorandum allows dual-credit core-curriculum, CTE and approved foreign-language courses; the transcript states a tuition stipulation of $55 per credit hour in certain cases for students not eligible for fee waivers. Administration recommended approval and the board approved the agreement unanimously.

These program approvals followed a unanimous consent-agenda vote earlier in the meeting that covered purchase orders and a contract listed in the packet.
