Westfield approves $17,500 local share for Barcelona Harbor dock modification; board okays related boat-launch payments

Councilmember David Spann moved and Councilmember David Brown seconded a motion to modify the size of floaters between two docks at Barcelona Harbor to create a smoother transition onto the docks. The board approved the modification and recorded an additional $17,500 as the town's local share for the new-dock project.

The Highway Superintendent and project representatives also discussed related launch-ramp work. The board approved a budget revision moving $18,500 from the A fund balance to pay Jack's Welding Service, Inc., invoice 10141 for shop fabrication and parts for constructing the launch ramp docks; the minutes note the town will receive a $49,966.76 occupancy-tax grant from Chautauqua County to cover a portion of the expense. Another small transfer of $205.40 was recorded to pay Municipal Solutions, Inc. invoice 22047.

Don McCord updated the board on the Barcelona Hamlet project and said he will meet with the county engineer; the minutes add that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers plans to dredge Barcelona Harbor in 2025 and will coordinate with the town on potential plans.

The board did not vote to dispose of the 2015 Chevy truck at this meeting; members asked for consideration of using the vehicle for dog control and deferred final action to a future meeting. The aluminum boat slips were discussed and the board had no objection to sending them to auction or selling as scrap.

The approved budget transfers direct town staff to draw checks as audited; specifics of project contracts and permitting were not recorded in the minutes and will be addressed in follow-up meetings.
