Sherwood Township considers new vendor after delayed dust-control work

Supervisory Aaron Robbins said Sherwood Township's dust-control treatment was completed on July 28 but suffered delays caused by weather and mechanical problems, prompting board members and residents to question whether the township should hire a different contractor next year.

The board discussed complaints about road conditions and the effectiveness of this summer's dust-control work. Robbins said he would "may look into another company that has fewer problems for next year," citing repeated problems that stretched the work schedule.

The discussion expanded into zoning enforcement: Robbins noted SafeBuilt has addressed several properties that drew complaints but said the enforcement process can be slow because cases have gone before a judge and the homeowner was sometimes granted more time. "This process takes time," Robbins said, and he told the board he had contacted another zoning company and would invite them to present options at a future meeting.

Board members and residents urged clearer, faster remedies for ordinance violations. Robbins said he would coordinate with Board member Haack to try to make the enforcement process more effective.

The board did not adopt any new zoning ordinance at the meeting; Robbins said the township would explore vendor options and report back at a later meeting.
