During its May 11 meeting the St. John the Baptist Parish School Board approved a series of procurement awards for school food services and related supplies.
Ms. Terry Charles presented recommendations to award bids to the lowest responsive bidders. The board approved: Bread/Bread Products to Bimbo Bakeries; Milk/Milk Products to Borden’s Dairy; Processed Foods to Diamond Food Distributors and Pon Food Corporation; Frozen Foods to Diamond Food Distributors and Pon Food Corporation; Meat/Meat Products to Diamond Food Distributors and Pon Food Corporation; Paper Supplies to Economical Janitorial Supplies, Interboro and Pon Foods; Cleaning Supplies to Economical Janitorial Supplies and SFS PAC; and Small Equipment to Economical, Associated Food Equipment & Supplies, Pyramid School Products and Pueblo Hotel & Supply.
Several motions were made and approved by roll call with the initial votes recorded as six yeas while one member was absent early in the meeting; after Mrs. Holden’s arrival some later votes were recorded with seven yeas. Motion sponsors included Jennifer Frizzell, DeFrancesch and others as recorded on each agenda item. No amendments to the bid awards were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The approvals placed the recommended vendors under contract as the district’s lowest responsive bidders for the listed categories; the meeting record does not specify contract dollar amounts or term lengths for each award.
