Interim Superintendent Kendria Spears updated the board on enrollment, staffing and district personnel matters during the Sept. 14 meeting. Spears reported district enrollment at 4,880 as of Sept. 12 and said teacher vacancies have declined; however the minutes do not quantify the number of vacancies remaining.
Spears introduced Jaye Ambrose as the district’s new Land and Facilities Supervisor; Ambrose thanked the board for the welcome, according to the minutes. A representative from Lean Frog provided a remote presentation on an organizational and salary study the firm was engaged to complete, with an estimated finish date in December, as recorded in the minutes.
The minutes list upcoming events — ESJH homecoming (Sept. 29), WSJH homecoming (Oct. 6), new-teacher training (Sept. 21) and master-teacher training (Sept. 22) — and say the HR director advertisement has been pulled for a later date. The minutes also note the board asked for prayers for families affected by a recent house fire and for a deceased student.
