Selectmen review CCI/Consolidated broadband contract; delayed local review by one member

Town Manager Billings briefed the Selectmen on a proposed contract with CCI (Consolidated) to extend broadband service in parts of Stonington, including a potential remote terminal at the Airport/North Stonington end.

The TM said she compared the contract language with a similar agreement used in nearby Brooklin and that the template was substantially the same. Selectman Travis Fifield said he had not received his copy and asked for time to review; the TM re‑sent the document during the Zoom meeting. TM identified Henry and Ian as technical contacts who had participated in prior project meetings and who could answer detailed engineering questions.

Board members emphasized they wanted to see the contract language on unexpected site work and extra charges if project scope changed. The TM said she would seek clarification from Consolidated about how the agreement addresses unforeseen work and that the company would provide a timeline for execution.

The Selectmen did not vote on contract approval at the meeting; they directed the TM to obtain the clarifications and ensure all Selectmen receive the contract for review before a final vote.
