Falcon Design presents building inspection and permitting proposal; council requests more review

Falcon Design presented a proposal to provide building inspection and permitting services to Cochran and provided a proposed fee schedule that staff said complies with House Bill 461 and International Code Council standards.

Council members discussed the elements of the proposed fee schedule, how revenue would be distributed, and potential liability issues connected with outsourcing inspections. Staff and council identified anticipated benefits to the city, including standardized inspections and code compliance, but requested additional legal and financial review before taking action.

No motion was made or vote taken; council asked staff to return with a more detailed review of fees, revenue allocation, liability protections and any contract terms that would affect city operations.
