Hiram council approves lease of Old Village Hall and several routine measures

Hiram, Ohio — The Hiram Village Council approved a package of routine but actionable measures at its Nov. 18 meeting, including accepting a lease bid for Old Village Hall, reconciling appropriations, and technical amendments to multiple ordinances.

Council approved Ordinance 2025-40 to accept the bid of Tammy Lingro for the lease of the Old Village Hall property at the corner of State Routes 82 and 700; Chris Szell moved to suspend the rules and approve the ordinance, and Juan Fernandez seconded; the motions to suspend and approve both passed 6-0. Council likewise suspended the rules and approved Ordinance 2025-39 reconciling village appropriations with the Uniform Accounting Network 6-0 following a motion by Chris Szell and second by Chris Perme.

Other business included typographical and drafting amendments to billing and personnel handbook language (Ordinances 2025-35, 2025-41 and 2025-42) and a zoning map update (2025-36) that added 11681 Hayden Street and removed 11679 Hayden Street from the proposed map; amendments on these items passed by unanimous votes where recorded.

No votes were recorded on the levy renewal resolutions during this meeting (2025-21 and 2025-22 remained at second reading), and several items remained at first or second reading for later consideration. The council adjourned at 8:17 p.m.; the next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
