Lawmakers press for modernization after LCC hears KISS project progress report

Legislative staff reported progress on the KISS project, saying a new addendum with delivery timelines was signed, work began this month, vendor and in-house teams hold daily standups and vendor personnel are working in the legislative building to support testing.

Aldo (staff) and Alta Houdin provided the update, saying the steering committee will receive weekly progress reports and that short-term co-location of vendor staff is intended to accelerate testing and integration.

Majority Leader Blazy said the council should pursue stronger vendor accountability and consider in-house drafting systems, noting that peers from other states told him they operate drafting systems internally and can produce requested bills within days. Blazy described delays and glitches in the current system as disruptive to floor operations and urged the council to hold the vendor accountable and explore modernization alternatives.

No formal procurement decision was made during the update; members requested continued oversight and status reports as the project proceeds.
