Park board backs changes to impact-fee ordinance for ADUs, approves Resolution PB24‑02

The Airway Heights Park Advisory Board on Nov. 7 approved Resolution PB24‑02, recommending that the City Council amend Chapter 16.09 — the city’s park impact mitigation fee ordinance — to implement changes required by House Bill 1337 related to accessory dwelling units.

Mrs. Trautman, identified in the minutes as Planning Director, is preparing the code updates required by the Legislature and will present them to the board and council as they become available, Mr. Kennedy said. The board moved to approve the resolution (motion by Michelle Musgrave; second by Gregory Webb) and the motion carried according to the minutes.

The board discussed the definition and purpose of accessory dwelling units (ADUs), described in the meeting materials as small, self‑contained residential units on the same lot as a single‑family home. The materials noted ADUs may be interior units (attics or basements), additions with separate entrances, or detached structures such as converted garages; some codes limit ADU size or visibility from the street.

The board adjourned at 6:17 p.m. after approving the resolution.
