Parks & Recreation Director J.C. Kennedy reported to the Park Advisory Board on Oct. 10 that a review of 2023 park project accounting found $61,799.41 authorized by the City Council for improvements (Highland Village, Sunset Park LPM Grant and Sunset Park Pathway Project) had not been transferred into the appropriate funds.
Kennedy said he met with Mr. Schubert to verify the expenses and that Schubert confirmed he could correct the error, which would result in an additional $61,799.41 influx to the General Fund.
Kennedy also presented detailed figures for the Sunset Park Picnic Shelter project: total LPM project costs listed as $354,311.79, including a Recreation and Conservation Office (RCO) grant of $100,000 and Park Impact Fees totaling $254,311.79. Previously transferred but unspent Park Impact Fees of $74,051.33 reduce the amount needed from the Park Reserve Fund, leaving a requested interfund transfer of $180,260.46 from Fund 104 to Current Expense 076 Parks (Capital Expenditure-Improvements).
Separately, Kennedy reported a request to transfer $13,000 from Fund 155 Hotel/Motel Special Tax (LTAC) to Current Expense 076 Parks per Council authorization to cover project costs.
The transcript records these requests as items presented to the board; no formal roll-call vote or final approval of the transfers is recorded in the minutes provided.
The board adjourned at 6:33 p.m.
