Broken Bow council approves $120,450.39 in bills, appoints new police officer and OKs township equipment agreement

The Broken Bow City Council unanimously approved the consent agenda for April 28, 2020, which included bills and payroll totaling $120,450.39, during a teleconference meeting on Tuesday.

Mayor Rod Sonnichsen called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. and noted the availability of the open meetings law and the process for submitting future agenda items. Council President Holcomb moved to approve the consent agenda; Councilmember Miller seconded the motion, and the roll call vote was 4-0 in favor (Holcomb, Schmidt, Miller and Myers).

The consent agenda listed multiple vendor payments and payroll charges. Notable items included bi-weekly payroll of $45,974.69 and health insurance charges to the City of Broken Bow totaling $26,211.03; the full bills-to-date total was $120,450.39.

On personnel business, Councilmember Myers moved and Council President Holcomb seconded a motion to appoint Chris Henderson as a Broken Bow police officer. That motion passed unanimously (Miller, Holcomb, Schmidt and Myers voting aye).

The council also approved a one-year interlocal agreement with Broken Bow Township governing shared equipment usage. Councilmember Miller moved the agreement; Councilmember Myers seconded, and the motion carried on a unanimous roll call vote (Myers, Schmidt, Miller and Holcomb).

City Clerk Stephanie M. Wright attested to the minutes at the close of the meeting. The council adjourned at 6:44 p.m.

The actions taken were routine procedural approvals and personnel appointment; no new ordinances or emergency rules were adopted during this session.
