Broken Bow council approves consent agenda, appoints planning commissioner and adopts Handibus testing procedures; denies temporary square bathroom

Broken Bow — The City Council approved its consent agenda at the May 12 meeting, which included the April 28 minutes and Bills to Date. The clerk reported total bills of $128,517.24. The consent-agenda motion (moved by Holcomb, seconded by Miller) passed on a roll-call vote with Ayes: Holcomb, Schmidt, Miller and Myers.

The council also handled several routine items: it appointed Duane Taylor to the Planning Commission for a term ending February 2023 (moved by Myers, seconded by Schmidt; unanimous vote); approved the Handibus Standard Operating Procedures for drug and alcohol testing (moved by Miller, seconded by Holcomb; unanimous vote); and opened and closed a public hearing on damages from an alley vacation at 1000 South 3rd Avenue after no damages were filed with the clerk.

Separately, the council voted to deny placing a temporary bathroom in the Square. Councilmembers Holcomb, Miller and Myers said money would be better spent on a permanent structure; Councilmember Schmidt voted no. The council adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
