Missoula County formalizes Lot 83 in Glenn Eagle as county‑held open space

Missoula County commissioners voted Jan. 30 to adopt a resolution formalizing that county‑owned Lot 83 in the Glenn Eagle subdivision will be held for open‑space purposes and may not be used for sanitation facilities.

A county staff member explained the background: as part of a prior land exchange, most private property was placed into conservation easement while Lots 81 and 82 remained developable. The private owners requested protection of Lot 83 as a no‑facilities lot so the private lots could secure necessary well isolation zones and proceed with development. The staff presenter said the resolution would obligate the county to use Lot 83 for passive recreation, conservation, habitat protection and similar open‑space uses consistent with maintaining the sanitation exemption.

The staff member said county attorney Elizabeth Ericson reviewed the proposal and found it consistent with the other processes in Glenn Eagle. In response to a public question, staff said Ericson is retained as counsel for property‑law matters and that staff were not aware of pending or contemplated litigation related to Glenn Eagle.
