Gladstone Area Schools board approves personnel moves, Teamster agreement and superintendent evaluation

At its Jan. 19 meeting the Gladstone Area Schools Board of Education approved a series of personnel moves, recognized mid‑year tenure advancements and completed post‑closed‑session actions including approval of a Teamster agreement and acceptance of the superintendent evaluation.

The board recognized mid‑year tenure advancement for teachers Michelle Carne, Emily Paul and Katina Demers and advanced Carlton Isaacson in probationary status. It accepted a resignation from Teamster employee Sierra Kohnert effective Feb. 6 and accepted a resignation from Youth in Government advisor Erika Fix at the end of the school year. The board also accepted a rescind (end of school year 2026) and an intent to retire (end of school year 2027) from Dan Bjorkquist. Board member Joanna Wilbee‑Amis submitted and the board accepted her resignation effective Feb. 13, 2026.

Hiring actions approved included Theresa Shepeck as junior varsity softball coach and Teamster hires for Kayla Bizeau (aide) and Lisa Nelson (food service aide). The board approved the High School Outdoor Club and the Middle School Art Club as Schedule B activities.

The board voted unanimously to move into closed session at 6:45 p.m. for contract negotiations and the superintendent evaluation; the roll call vote listed all seven members in the affirmative. The meeting returned to open session at 7:41 p.m. and reopened at 7:42 p.m., after which the board approved a Teamster Agreement and accepted the superintendent evaluation; both motions passed 7-0. The meeting adjourned at 7:44 p.m.
