Committee to seek board public hearings on stop-sign changes at local intersections

Committee staff and members discussed proposed changes to intersection signage at Christie/Roby and at Laurel Lane during the June 30 meeting, and agreed to refer both items to the board for formal public hearings.

Staff member (S3) described the Christie/Roby location and said the existing yield sign was not adequately protecting drivers entering the main flow: "It should be a stop sign," Staff member (S3) said. Members agreed the change would require a public hearing before implementation and that the matter should be brought to the board if the committee supports it.

The committee also identified Laurel Lane, a true T-intersection onto McCurdy, as lacking a stop sign and supported placing a stop sign there. Staff indicated no objection and recommended advancing both items through the normal board/public-hearing process.

Next steps: The committee will place the sign-change proposals on the board agenda and pursue the public hearings required by policy before any signs are installed or changed.
