Fairview Park approves extra sidewalk work, increases Rocky River reimbursement for Center Ridge resurfacing

Fairview Park’s city council unanimously approved Ordinance 2644 June 29, authorizing the mayor to increase the amount reimbursed to the city of Rocky River related to the Center Ridge Road resurfacing project.

Councilman Lang moved to suspend the usual three‑reading requirement and dispense with committee referral so the measure could be considered on an emergency basis. Engineer Kerber told council that the construction management firm QCI identified additional sidewalk and curb work not included in the original plan, and that the extra items total about $22,000. Kerber said the work is concentrated in the area near the Savers store between Glenar and West 210th and that the full resurfacing project is expected to be completed by the end of September.

Council members asked whether additional portions required repair; Kerber said Rocky River also has extra curb and sidewalk work planned but the identified $22,000 reflects the City of Fairview Park’s additional scope. The clerk called the roll; Councilmembers Lang, Minnik, King, Wearing and Reley voted yes and Ordinance 2644 passed.

Engineer Kerber and council emphasized the lengthy timeline for Center Ridge resurfacing and said the added work is being coordinated to avoid later rework when the final surface is placed.
