St. Pete Beach mayor invites residents to 'Red, White, and Barbecue' on July 4

Mayor Scott Tate invited St. Pete Beach residents to the city's official Independence Day celebration, "Red, White, and Barbecue," on Saturday, July 4 at 5:00 p.m. at Heran Park. "Bring your chairs, bring your family and friends, and bring your patriotic spirit," he said, describing family-friendly activities and a fireworks display over the waterfront.

Tate said the event will include a barbecue cooking competition, an inflatable obstacle course, a dunk tank, yard games, crafts hosted by the St. Pete Beach Library team, ice cream treats and a live DJ. At 5:30 p.m. the program will pause for a military tribute and flyover, and the evening will conclude with fireworks over the waterfront at about 9:00 p.m.

The mayor framed the celebration as both a community gathering and a way to honor the country's 250th birthday, inviting families to join in the festivities. He closed his video message thanking residents for staying safe and helping the community come together.
