Board approves deputies' donation fund, $500,000 transfer and routine county business

At its meeting the Worth County Board of Supervisors approved several routine items, including a resolution to create a fund to accept donations for deputies to purchase weapons and related equipment (Resolution 2026-21) and a resolution authorizing a $500,000 transfer from the general fund to the general basic trust fund (Resolution 2026-22).

The board approved drainage work orders (including one submitted by Harland Slack for a washout) and carried routine claims and payroll approvals by motion and vote. "I have a motion and a second. Is there any further discussion? Hearing none. All those in favor say I," the chair stated as these items were approved.

County staff reported progress on paving, shoulders and bridge contracts, cautioned about state speed-limit changes and said staff are obtaining equipment for no-passing-zone and curve evaluations. Staff also updated supervisors on construction of a new office/shop building (roof steel in place, sewer stubbed and floor drains placed) and noted the salt shed delivery.

The board recorded the roll-call vote on Resolution 2026-22 and adopted it; Resolution 2026-21 was also adopted as recorded in the meeting minutes. Supervisors then moved on to the Worthwhile Solar West discussion and later adopted Resolution 2026-23 regarding zoning text and vested rights.

The meeting closed with brief supervisor comments, a report from Melissa about social media work and scheduling for the policy board meeting, and adjournment.
