Consultants outline costly repairs for 1916 drainage tile; city may seek CDBG funds

Representatives from ISG appeared before the Early City Council on July 6 to describe options and anticipated costs to rehabilitate a drainage tile system installed in 1916 (Drainage District 59). ISG told the council the system will require substantial work and that preliminary plans and funding steps will proceed through the Sac County Supervisors, who act as trustees for the drainage district.

City officials discussed the timeline for planning and noted the process will take months before any construction begins. ISG and the council said the city anticipates pursuing a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to help offset project costs, but no formal application or commitment was recorded at the meeting.

The council agreed to revisit the drainage-district discussion at next month’s meeting; no motions or votes were recorded in the minutes related to committing city funds or selecting a contractor.
