Flowood officials sworn in; board appoints city clerk and police chief

Mayor Gary L. Rhoads and the Flowood Board of Aldermen convened for regular meetings in July 2017, during which the board administered oaths of office and approved several key appointments and administrative measures. Judge Don Leland administered the oaths to Mayor Rhoads and to aldermen Donald H. Flynt, Deron R. Harmon, Kathy J. Smith, Kirk B. McDaniel and Dusty L. Rhoads.

In a July 1 session, Alderman Kirk B. McDaniel moved to appoint Joshua Carlisle as City Clerk; Alderman Dusty L. Rhoads seconded the motion, which the board approved unanimously. After the vote, Mayor Rhoads administered Carlisle’s oath of office.

The board also appointed Ritchie McCluskey as chief of police. Alderman Don H. Flynt moved to appoint McCluskey and Alderman Kathy J. Smith seconded; the motion carried by unanimous vote and McCluskey received the oath of office from Mayor Rhoads.

Those actions were taken alongside routine consent-agenda approvals, including claims dockets and minutes. The board adopted a resolution appointing the City’s Mississippi Municipal League 2017 voting delegates by unanimous vote.

The meetings adjourned after the board completed its scheduled business. The minutes attach copies of the oaths of office and official bonds for the newly sworn and appointed officials.
