Board approves Career and Technical Education supervisor job description

The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board on May 8 approved a new job description for a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Supervisor intended to expand and manage CTE programs across district high schools.

Dr. Kimberly Johnson introduced the item; the board approved the description in a recorded vote (motion by DeFrancesch; second by Vicknair). The job description specifies a 240-day term, reporting to the chief of academics, and a salary range tied to the supervisor’s salary schedule. Key duties include aligning CTE curricula with the Louisiana Department of Education accountability model, promoting industry credentials and ACT WorkKeys, facilitating internships and Early College Option efforts, monitoring performance data, expanding pathways and community outreach, and managing related program budgets and grants.

Minimum qualifications listed in the job description include a Type A or Level 3 Louisiana teaching certificate and a master’s degree in education, educational leadership or a related field; an Educational Leadership endorsement is required or must be obtainable. The board recorded a unanimous yes vote among nine members in attendance; two members were absent. The superintendent and academic leadership were directed to proceed with implementation steps, including posting and recruiting for the position.
