The City of La Crosse Common Council voted June 30 to approve the working-session schedule for the Board of Estimates and to add a separate public information meeting in the fall to solicit public feedback on potential budget cuts.
City Clerk Claire Elson noted the proposed schedule (posted in Legistar) and called for consensus. Council member Calo moved to approve the dates as proposed; a subsequent amendment moved the Oct. 12–13 sessions to 4 p.m. Council member Janssen moved, and the council approved, adding a separate public information meeting between Sept. 1 and Oct. 12 so staff can present specific service-cut options and allow public input before the Board of Estimates finalizes recommendations.
All motions were approved by voice vote and announced in the meeting as passing unanimously; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript. The clerk/finance staff will publish the confirmed schedule on the council calendar and Legistar and will schedule the added public information meeting.
