Mount Olive honors retiring officers and swears in four new police hires

Mount Olive Township honored retiring officers and recognized employee service milestones before swearing in four new police officers during its June 9 workshop meeting.

Mayor Jonah Castro read a proclamation recognizing June 2026 as Great Outdoors Month and presided over employee recognitions. The township publicly thanked Officer Thomas Cuff for 20 years of service and recognized Alex Tucker and Communications Officer Dominic Seis for five years of service. Retirement resolutions honoring Police Officer Kevin Barrier (25 years) and Officer Thomas Cuff were read and accepted.

Chief Mike introduced and administered the oath to new officers who recently graduated from the Morris County Police Academy and are in field training: Lucas McCarthy, Kyle Hegley, Brandon Leson and Matthew Bruno. Families joined several officers on the dais during the swearing‑in. "Well, congratulations everyone on retiring and on being sworn in," the council president said during the recognition segment.

Council members and the mayor applauded the officers’ service and wished retirees well. No formal action was required beyond the ceremonial resolutions and oath; the council recessed briefly after the swearing‑in and continued with the workshop agenda.
