Jackson County adopts FY26‑27 fiscal resolutions, designates official posting place and approves appointments

Auditor Lisa Smith opened the year-end portion of the agenda and the board approved a package of routine fiscal-year resolutions needed to start fiscal year 2026-27.

Resolutions the board approved by voice vote included: appropriations by department (Resolution 1194-06-30-2026); naming county officer bank depositories and designated banks for trust accounts (Resolutions 1195 and 1196); designation of a county bank for warrants and payroll (Resolution 1197); authorization for the auditor to issue warrants for specified recurring bills without prior board approval (Resolution 1198), amended on the floor to include Drug-Free Coalition (DFC) grant expenditures; interfund operating transfers authorizing periodic transfers to the secondary road fund (Resolution 1199); and payroll and compensation resolutions for township officials and election workers (Resolutions 1200, 121, 122). Supervisors said the routine matters had been reviewed in advance and would be publicly posted on the county website.

On a separate item relating to a change in state law about notice posting, Smith outlined uncertainty about how the law would be implemented across agencies and recommended designating the courthouse east entrance as Jackson County's official posting place effective July 1 (Resolution 1203-06-30-2026); the board approved the resolution and noted the county will continue using its website and explore digital posting methods (for example, QR codes) while complying with the statute.

The board also approved the county medical examiner investigator reappointments recommended by Dr. Eric Peterson (Raymond Arian; Jordan Fullerton; Miguel Hamilton; Lynn Mininger; Brett Pauls; Jamie Stainer) effective July 1, 2026, and granted a fireworks permit for a private display in Preston on July 4, 2026 (rain dates July 11 or 12). Each of these routine items passed by voice vote.
