Commission approves 25-year, $1 lease with Huron School District for Little League complex

The city commission voted to approve a 25-year lease between the city and the Huron School District for the Roger Kasa Little League complex, authorizing the mayor and the parks-and-recreation board president to sign the agreement.

Parks and recreation director Chad Sherro told the commission the school board has already signed the lease and the city attorney had reviewed the document. "I'm asking for approval for to pay the $1 lease agreement and the mayor and the parks and recck board president to sign," Sherro said.

Commissioners asked whether the previous lease had the same term; Sherro answered that the prior lease was also 25 years and that the new agreement expires July 9, 2026, and preserves long-term use while allowing the school district to protect options for future development. City attorney Aaron Shy confirmed he had reviewed the lease and indicated no further comments.

The motion to approve carried on a roll-call vote with all members present voting in the affirmative. The lease will allow continued use of the Roger Kasa complex by youth baseball and related programs; execution of the agreement was authorized immediately.

The commission moved on to other agenda items following the vote.
