Request to use district Fund 80 for community playground tabled after split votes

Board members acknowledged the community benefits but split on whether the district should spend Fund 80 dollars now or wait until administrators can produce a formal community‑education plan and a line‑item wish list. One board member favored supporting the park to demonstrate district partnership ahead of any referendum; others asked for a costed program plan and clearer parameters for Fund 80 expenditures.

During the meeting, motions to fund $40,000 and then $30,000 were introduced and failed. After an amendment requiring more information, the board voted to table the request and asked staff and community representatives to return with a prioritized wish list, specific cost estimates for equipment and installation, and a proposed community‑education program timeline.

Next steps: the district asked community organizers to submit a detailed itemized list (equipment, installation, ADA pieces, site preparation) and for staff to prepare a short-term funding scenario that shows what could be accomplished with partial funding.
