The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors on June 29 approved two leases for space at the Heritage Center in New Hampton.
The board approved a one-year lease with Debuke Visiting Nurse Association to provide bloodwork and clinic services; the lease includes a 30-day termination provision and converts to month-to-month after the initial term. County staff said Debuke will work with the auditor's office for payment processing and receive keys when the agreement is finalized.
Separately, the board approved a lease with Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services (part of the Iowa Workforce division) at the Heritage Center. The tenant requested a five-year lease and the county required a 60-day written-notice provision to preserve flexibility if the county decides to reconfigure or sell the building. The transcript records the lease as running through Oct. 31, 2031 and the board approved entering the agreement (motion by Travis, second by Scott).
Supervisors noted lease terms include outs for the county if ownership or building configuration changes and emphasized that tenants will need to provide required documents, including certificates of insurance. Both lease approvals passed by voice vote.
Next steps: staff will finalize documents, obtain necessary signatures and execute the agreements. The county will follow up to secure any missing certificates of insurance from tenants.
