County commissioners approve budget transfer for Community Justice JRI program

Jason Jensen, Union County chief financial officer, presented a budget transfer Wednesday that the county commissioners approved to reallocate funds for the Community Justice JRI program.

Jensen told commissioners the request was for Budget Order 2026-76 to appropriate funding that was not known at the time the budget was adopted. He said the transfer decreases personal services by $20,000, increases materials and services by $64,994 and decreases contingency by $44,994. “Budget order 2026-76, the Community Justice JRI program requires a budget transfer to appropriate funding not known at the adoption of the budget,” Jensen said.

After Jensen’s summary and an opportunity for questions, an unnamed commissioner moved to approve the transfer and another commissioner seconded. Two commissioners voiced “aye” and the presiding official announced the motion carried, approving the budget amendment.

Commissioner Timmons and Commissioner Doran indicated they had no further comments, and the presiding official adjourned the meeting.

The transfer was limited to internal budget reallocation; no additional programs, contracts, or dates for implementation were specified during the meeting. The record does not specify which commissioners moved and seconded the motion or provide a roll-call vote with names.
