Lawndale Community Services director highlights activities at Family and Pet Health Fair

Jason Minter, Community Services Director for Lawndale City, said the Lawndale Family and Pet Health Fair offered a range of community resources and activities for residents and their pets.

"The Family and Pet Health Fair is a is basically a resource opportunity for the community to come out and uh be exposed to a lot of resources here in the community," Minter said, describing the event as an annual program run by Community Services.

Minter outlined the lineup of vendors and demonstrations at the fair, noting a mix of health, recreation and arts offerings. He said Paramount Reptiles led a reptile demonstration and a mobile petting zoo allowed children to interact with small animals. "We had the mobile petting zoo, which showed all sorts of little critters that kids just love to touch and pet," he said. Crystal from Calmate Yoga led outdoor "yoga on the lawn" classes, and Soka Arts provided a dance performance.

On the health side, Minter said the American Red Cross presented a hands-only CPR demonstration. He also highlighted a 30-foot rock wall on site that drew strong participation; "It is a beautiful sunny day. We having a a lot of fun," he said, adding, "I do think we had a record-setting climb this year."

Minter said the city combines health programming with pet-focused activities in a single annual event to broaden community access to services and encourage family participation. He closed by urging residents who missed the fair to mark their calendars for next year.
