Trustee Sabri and other trustees asked whether proposed budget cuts had removed funding for the Village of Villa Park’s Fourth of July parade, in light of recent budget‑cut discussions.
Village Manager Rivas and Director Micah clarified at the June 29 meeting that the amended budget passed May 18 did not cut the parade allocation. Manager Rivas said planning meetings with the VFW have taken place, candy and supplies are on hand and departments know their parade assignments. “We have made no cuts to the parade,” Rivas said. Micah confirmed the amended budget listing contains no reduction to the parade line item.
Trustees had earlier signaled that they wanted to avoid cuts that would affect residents’ quality of life, and after the clarification trustees expressed relief that the parade remained funded. Manager Rivas said staff would provide a post‑parade report on expenditures and logistics.
Outcome: No cut to the parade budget was reported at the meeting; the parade remained scheduled for 10 a.m. on July 4.
