Subcommittee holds off on revising local-preference rule for 40B projects

The Policies and Procedures Subcommittee reviewed the town's Local Preference Households policy, which applies to Chapter 40B housing projects, and agreed to postpone any recommendation until staff clarifies the record.

Town Manager Andy Sheehan said the Administration could not find an adoption date for the policy; the Subcommittee confirmed a revision was voted and approved June 24, 2008 but agreed the definition altered on that date is unclear. Member Dan Carty said he does not want local preference to be determined on a project-by-project basis and urged preserving local preference. The Subcommittee decided to hold off on recommending revisions until staff can clarify the 2008 change for the full Select Board to review.

The issue will return to the Subcommittee or the full Select Board after staff provides the historical adoption details required for an informed recommendation.
