Green Street in downtown Greensboro converted to two-way traffic; parking-deck exits reconfigured

A major traffic-pattern change is coming to downtown Greensboro: Green Street will operate as two-way traffic, the city announced.

The change, presented on the City of Greensboro’s FYI Weekly broadcast, is intended to improve access and connectivity for downtown visitors. "A big change is coming to downtown Greensboro," host Rosemary Plyen said, advising drivers to "pay close attention to updated signs, pavement markings, and traffic signals."

Officials also described specific changes at the Green Street parking deck: the left exit lane will permit left turns only, while the right exit lane will allow both left and right turns. Customers paying with cash were told to use the left exit lane.

Pedestrians were reminded to use marked crosswalks, follow signals and look both ways before crossing as traffic begins moving in both directions. The city urged extra caution during the transition period as drivers and pedestrians adjust to the new patterns.
